Stephen Ban received his B.Sc. from McGill University with a major in marine biology and a minor in biotechnology, and has an advanced technical diploma from BCIT in Geographic Information Systems. He has worked at the Vancouver Museum as an exhibit researcher, at the Vancouver Aquarium as a marine mammal trainer, and for a private environmental consulting firm as a GIS and network specialist. He is currently doing his M.Sc. under the supervision of Dr. Andrew Trites in the Marine Mammal Research Unit, where his work focuses on using a GIS to model Steller sea lion habitat and distribution.
