I graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2005 with a BSc in
Marine Biology. I began my MSc in the Marine Mammal Research Unit in 2006.
The purpose of my study is to examine the seasonal changes in growth and feeding
of Steller sea lions, Eumetopias jubatus, from captive records. I am
ultimately interested in how differences in growth and food intake relate
to life history stages such as weaning and reproduction. Quantifying growth
and energetic requirements and understanding their fluctuations will be extremely
useful in the continuing study and management of the endangered western population
of Steller sea lions. |
