Anna Hall
MSc (University of British Columbia)
BSc Hons (University of Victoria)

My research is focused on two of the world's six species of porpoise. Harbour and Dall's porpoise are both found within the inland waters of British Columbia and I have been studying various aspects of their biology, ecology and conservation for the past 13 years. My research focuses on the diet, habitat use, strandings and acoustic behaviours of both species in the waters near Victoria, British Columbia. I have a strong interest in understanding the relationship between surface observations, habitat, and subsurface behaviours and the implications for conservation. I am currently incorporating systematic visual observations with subsurface ultrasonic acoustic recordings. In order to best understand the system species inhabit, I spend as much time as possible in the field, observing wild behaviours on a seasonal and inter-annual basis.
